After a lot of struggling with internet failures in my Skype recording experiments and overall difficulties with visualizing my dual screen attempt in a satisfying quality,I decided to rethink my proposal. During my initial research I was inspired by the aspects of travel and time as motion. I thought of trying to capture traveling as a “space lapse” sequence like Mauritius Seeger, but wanted to abstract the technique and outcome in order to play with the idea of unifying moments.
During my trip around the North Island in the brake, I started photographing the road and surroundings through the front window of the car. As the whole journey was very characterized by getting quite fast from A to B i gained my main impression of the Island through the landscape and cityscapes in that window frame while driving.
I got the idea to capture an overall impression of my journey through an experiment with time lapsing my photographs in an abstract way. To show a space lapse of an overall expression by mixing and perhaps overlaying the frames an developing an abstract time lapse sequence of the journey.
I am now in the process of choosing my pictures and experimenting with running them through Premiere 5. I will try some different ways of sequencing and editing them, and perhaps in this process, I will find, that the outcome will stand stronger as a series with abstract overlayed situations.
